Preparazione

Preparing

Today I attach a page of studies of the character of Teru Teru Bozu.
It seems that the pages with the characters are the most popular, so I take this opportunity.
For a while I gathered from books, magazines, newspapers, comics and more all the images where the subject had a gesture that fit the character (I already said that in a character with the face covered by a gas mask mimics the body is all ?).
I have completed several pages of a notebook with these studies, which step by step I'll post here in the forum.
I've divided the studies into two categories: fullboby and halfbody. Of course, the face detail had no utility.
But there are also pages of landscapes and details of objects.

Question: How have you created a page so rich in detail with an angled shot as well? What Workflow and tools that you followed / used? All freehand or did you started for the prospects with a grid, rulers, photos etc..?
Answer: I've always been fascinated by the studies of illustration with the perspective grid that is sometimes seen in the pages of some professionists. But I've never been taught, so I've no idea how to do it. This page have not even used a real prospect, given that a structure would probably stiffened the scene, making it straight palaces and reduced the effect of devastation.
So the answer is: I did it all by eye, without using special tools (I purposely avoided as well rulers)

Sorpresa!

Domanda: Quante pagine hai fatto finora?

Surprise!

And so, secretly, to surprise you place the first page of the comic Catartica ...
I stalled too, you've been good and you've earned it :) Bilingual version!

Question: How many pages have you done so far?
Answer: Catartica currently only has 3 pages inked, this is the only complete with dialogue balloon, the other 5 pages I designed ... but I do not know if it will be implemented.

Facce scure

Dark faces

I'm drawing some attempt for a comic book.
No, that picture is not a character of this comic.

The act of drawing characters with the gas mask was not designed to facilitate me in the drawing, saving to make facial expressions, indeed, the goal was to improve the acting, mime of the characters, and I can tell happy with the result.

But now I have to draw the faces, and some students in my class of comics were interested in the effect of shadows on a face.
I promised them to show this exercise, did quite a bit of time ago.
Maybe it has little to do with the setting of the comic "Catartica", but the same could be said of the images of the hospital.
So I will quote the wisdom of my uncle who said: "is like pissing in the sea" (to make it overflow).
Everything act ...

Question: Working on a new comic you 'll abandon Catartica?
Answer: No, Catartica continues, as it always was, slowly and inexorably, remaining frozen in time with its successes and evolving without haste, without a deadline, and I have quite a bit of material aside for you ;)

To the throat

It's stopped raining ... Well, more or less.
Let's say that until November should neutralize the risks floods.
Ah, the tooth is gone, the mood has improved ... In short, things are going, pass, resolve, then start of the entropy and everything piss off ... but in the meantime let us enjoy the good times for what they are

Question: From where does the name Svaramouche come from?
Answer: The name scaramouche comes from a traditional mask, Scaramuccia (skirmish), which is linked to a figure with a sword and guitar (violin in our case) character is witty several points of contact in my comics with the romantic cadet Cyrano De Bergerac.

San Valentino

Valentine's Day

So far I have posted on the Blog my dependence on drawing and how it has always been present even in the less cheerful moment.
But , hey , we're on Valentine's Day, and we have to be sweety, then I'll talk you about comics and marriage :)
It was 1997, I attended the art school, and I was not comfortable with my class. I was not the type to complicate the lives of secretaries, principals, teachers and others asking to be changed to class, so I decided to simply stop going, with the rejection would have solved.
I discovered at that time a course on comics of the district, was also free, and I found a couple of friends who would come intrigued.
Still attend some of those friends, others have taken different paths , but two people in particular became important to me .
One was a teacher: Giorgio. A boy (then, a family man now) with great humility that I was able to grow more than anyone else on the aspect of design. A difference to me had not studied in art school, but his passion led him far beyond the classicists teachings. Even today, that i deon't meet him so much, I respect and admire him as a teacher ... and as much as possible I follow his method of teaching in elementary and middle schools where I teach comics, and the same in the course , where over the years, I became a teacher to student .
The other person that I knew the course was passionate about Sailormoon, she drew her characters with the style of this comic that I found very rough , but at the same time she drew with great skill the animals , even the most difficult . A skill that still have not been able to achieve. In addition to admiring her drawings of animals, I was able to collaborate with her , Sara , suggesting new methods of colouring (which her still uses) and fighting endless wars to teach the principles of anatomy (in which she has improved a lot ) and the prospective (which her still does not understand anything ) .
From 1997 to date are less than 17 years, almost 12 of them spent with her as husband and wife.
If we had not followed our love for drawing we would never have known .
What do you think, isn't it a good story ?

Question: Where does the name of Teru Teru Bozu?
Answer: Teru Teru Bozu takes her name from a Japanese doll that brings an end to rain, and generally good weather. It is seen in many cartoons ... at least, in many cartoons of my generation, is that kind of handkerchief with inside a ping-pong ball to simulate the head (complete with eyes drawn) often hanging near the window. In any case, Wikipedia can explain it better :)

Quindi Chiedete!!!

The Walking Man

And here, in the waiting room, ending your virtual journey,  corresponding of my real walk into the hospital.
There is little to say, the thing that has been discovered (an autoimmune disease) is being submissive for years, and not more problems comed out... if we exclude the 20kg given to me by cortisone.
I could definitely find a positive aspect in the closing of this whole story, but since I have removed a tooth particularly difficult, not so much the mood.
I refer to the appointment on Friday, that being Valentine's Day will host a drawing, in which Scaramouche tells Teru Teru Bozu about who is Cupid ...

Question: Why this post was likely to be without question and answer?
Answer: because do I have a hard time asking me questions about something I already know well, so if I do not have any ideas or questions from those who follow the angle Blog Q&A Skip. Then ask, please!

Forged by Fate

I've already written that I await your questions to the corner Questions/Answers of the Blog?
Today you can see the image of one of the hospital corridor, in this area there is the Day hospital, even here I stopped diligently to take note of the indoor.

For the curious, my room was going to reach the end of this hallway (where you see peep the gatehouse of nurses) and turning left .. if I remember correctly the second door on the right.

Question: What songs should you listen to when viewing the pages?
Answer: Actually there are several songs that I found suitable, this one is definitely:

Points of view

This is more comfortably what I saw from my bed ... Items that can be useful and unintuitive, than a table, a cabinet and a chair, to tell a story set in a hospital.
Last saturday and sunday I was in Milan for a modeling show, where I picked up some sketches of destroyed buildings and other interesting items from historical dioramas.

The important thing is to have collected these items, these memories for future use if it was useful, especially because some images seem to me to be able to convey a feeling... and there may be some space for it in the story.

Domanda: What exactly is steampunk? (Question by Jasmine)
Risposta: Steampunk is an artistic genre of literature that had important parents including Jules Verne. The idea that sums up the spirit of steamponk is "how would be like if the future had happened sooner." Is therefore based on different ucronic ideas depending on setting: from the victory in Waterloo by Napoleon, to the Nazi Germany that wins the IIWW.
By extension, the term stampunk is used today for the post-apocalyptic settings, a little as in the case of my comic.
I have preferred instead the term Rustpunk, because it seemed more appropriate because the spirit of the setting is "how would be the end if it came first.
The ages it will be seen in the pages being in the present with some elements of the near past.

"You will never find the truth if you're not willing to accept even what you do not expect." Heraclitus
